BSH Data

Parts of the data that were previously freely available have been removed from the BSH server and access has been restricted.

BSH now states: "The use of the data for navigation purposes is not permitted."

The German part of the chart is now based on older data downloaded on 2026-04-27 and on spot soundings that were last available on 2026-03-02. The data was then selectively updated using the currently available datasets, and the NfS was incorporated as far as possible. Updates of withdrawn and replaced charts are not covered.

The charts provided by this project are based on data by

OsmAnd

Vector Charts

Vector charts and styles for OsmAnd can be installed by simply opening the obf or xml file with the OsmAnd app, it will automatically import the file and use it as part of the "offline vector chart".

Use the Marine Rendering Style!

The vector chart will not be rendered properly without the marine rendering style and render engine 2 (OpenGL)!
It will only work when using the Marine Rendering Style!
The Marine Rendering Style is now included in OsmAnd by default.

Raster Charts

The charts are imported by opening the sqlitedb files with the app.

Online Charts

The raster charts can also be added to OsmAnd as online tile sources, chart tiles are downloaded on demand.

Tip

Select sqlitedb as storage format. This will store the tiles more efficiently into a single database file.
If you set an expiration time, the tiles will be redownloaded after they have expired, so you get automatic updates.

AvNav

Raster Charts

AvNav can read mbtiles. Simply drop the files into AvNav's charts folder.

Vector Charts

The S57 files can be used with the Ocharts(NG) plugin, they work with OpenCPN as well.

OpenCPN

see AvNav, the charts work with OpenCPN, too.

JOSM

The raster charts can be added to JOSM as imagery layers.
